Wizards vs. Knicks

Posted by WIZfan Webmaster

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The New York Knicks try to post back-to-back victories for the first time this month when they continue a three-game homestand against the slumping Washington Wizards.

The Knicks, who won a season-best three in a row from November 22-26, had lost six games in a row before rallying to beat Denver on Saturday, 95-88.

Keith Van Horn scored 16 points, Allan Houston nine of his 15 in the fourth quarter and Antonio McDyess seven of his season-high 15 in the final period for the Knicks.

Houston had missed three games with a sore right knee. McDyess was making his first start of the campaign and played a season-high 31 minutes filling in for Kurt Thomas (sore left knee).

The Wizards have lost three straight games and seven of eight, including a 110-91 setback to Minnesota on Friday.

Larry Hughes scored 16 points and Christian Laettner aded 14 off the bench for the Wizards, who shot 41 percent and allowed the Timberwolves to connect on 56 percent.

Gilbert Arenas, who was seeing his first action since November 25 due to an abdominal strain, had nine points in 24 minutes.

The Knicks and Wizards split their four games last season, with each going 1-1 at home.
